SID 2020 main event
The main event will take place in Naples at the National Museum of Pietrarsa. The National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa lies beside the Naples–Portici railway, which was the first built in Italy. The museum is housed in what was originally the old Bourbon workshop Officine di Pietrarsa, founded in 1840 at the command of Ferdinand II of Bourbon where steam-machines for ships and boilers for locomotives were built. The railway was a technological revolution that linked people faster in 1840, as the internet plays a role in connecting people around the globe nowadays. However, we need to learn how to use it in the best way.
Safer Internet Day call to action
Across the country, schools, teachers, children, institutions and organisations work to upload their resources and activities on www.generazioniconnesse.it, to share their planned events to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2020.
What we are doing to support the SID 2020 slogan of "Together for a better internet"…
The Italian Safer Internet Centre - Generazioni connesse promotes safer and better use of the internet among children, parents and teachers. It organises awareness and dissemination activities and media campaigns in cooperation with the main stakeholders working in the field. It also provides two hotlines and one helpline and chat service, available to adults, young people and children, who want to talk about online issues.
Our SIC is coordinated by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the main Italian organisations that work for a safer and better internet for kids. The main partners are the National Ombudsperson for Childhood and Adolescence, Ministry of Internal Affairs – Postal and Communication Police, Ministry of Cultural Heritage, University of Florence, University of Rome "La Sapienza", Save the Children Italy, SOS Il Telefono Azzurro, EDI, Skuola.net, INDIRE and Giffoni Experience.
